Upcoming Events As we begin the new school year, we will focus the week after Labor Day in prayer and fasting, worship, on-sight prayer, and intentional outreach. We will join with other churches in our region in celebrating “Why Jesus” on the Second Sunday – September 12. Prayer & Fasting – September 7-9 Please sign up on the form in the lobby or email Rebeca Yoder if you plan to fast one or more days. Those who commit to fasting will receive information to focus their prayer as well as updates as persons submit their prophetic words. Prayer Drive – September 8 at 8 pm We will meet at Good Shepherd for a prayer drive. Our focus will be on our call as a church in this region. Night of Worship – September 11 (7-9 pm) We will celebrate a Night of Worship as we initiate the weekend. Come join us as we gather around the throne of God! Prayer over Adamstown – September 11-12 We will intercede over Adamstown on Saturday and Sunday, September 11-12. If you are interested in joining us on either day for one hour or more, please sign up on the form in the lobby and indicate which blocks of time you will be there. Treasure Hunt – September 11-12 We will have a Matthew 10 style Treasure Hunt during our Prayer over Adamstown. Please sign up for the blocks of time you will be there. Salvation Sunday – Sunday, September 12 Many of the churches in Northern Lancaster County will participate in a “Salvation Sunday.” On that day we will all proclaim the message of salvation through Jesus Christ – our basis for unity. We have yard signs which you can place in front of your home or business (or give to family and friends). Suggested donation is $3. Denver Fair outreach – Sept. 14-18 As part of our continuing effort to connect with our community, we will again have a booth at the fair and offer free coffee and donuts, along with a place to sit and enjoy them. If you are able to help staff the booth or assist with setting up/tearing down, please contact Carol Nolt or Lois Zimmerman. Hopewell Network Men’s retreat – Sept. 17-18 The Men’s Retreat, Transformation 10, will take place at Petra Christian Fellowship in New Holland. It will feature Bruce Lengeman and the focus will be on purity. Transformation 10 is for Men/Boys ages 16 and older. Boys younger than 16 may attend if they are accompanied by their father. Transformation 10 is an overnight camping event, so bring your RV or tent, as well as your sleeping gear and sleep either indoors or outside. Registration forms for Transformation 10 are on the table in the lobby. Ladies Bible Study – Sept. 24-Dec. 10 The Ladies Bible Study will feature the 11-week video series “Breaking Free” by Beth Moore. The Bible Study will meet weekly on Friday mornings at 9 am in the Good Shepherd Center. Elaine Miller will lead the series. Parenting is Heart Work – Sept. 26-Oct. 24 Charlie & Joyce Martin will lead a five-week parenting equipping – Parenting is Heart Work. Registrations are available on the table in the lobby. First Responders appreciation Sunday – Sept. 26 We will honor the first responders in our region on Sunday morning, September 26. Single Young Adult "Crazy Love" Video Series The Single Young Adult group will begin the video series "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan on September 11 at 7:30 p.m. If you need to purchase a book for the video series, please contact Paul or Missy Lapp. The cost for the book is $5. Please read the first chapter before September 11. Married Young Adult group The married young adult group meets on the second Saturday night of each month at 7:00pm. We desire to help each other grow closer as a couple and to Jesus. We gather to have fun as well as learn about marriage related topics. An opportunity to build a deeper relationship with your spouse, God and other couples. Please talk with Nelson or Treva Bollinger for more information. |
